Purpose

Stanley’s Olde Maple Lane Farm strives at all times to provide its products and services in a way that respects the dignity and independence of everyone.

Stanley’s works hard to ensure that most activities carried out on the farm are safe and available to all, including those with disabilities. We understand that due to the nature of part of our business, we cannot guarantee this to everyone. We deal with century old buildings, large animals and outdoor activities, conducted in areas that are inaccessible to some people, for safety reasons.

Scope

These policies apply to all employees, representatives and volunteers of Stanley’s Olde Maple Lane Farm.

Communication

We, Stanley’s Olde Maple Lane Farm, will communicate with individuals with disabilities in ways that take into account their disability.

We train employees who communicate with the public and other third parties on how to interact and communicate with individuals with various types of disabilities.

Providing products and services to those with disabilities

Stanley’s Olde Maple Lane Farm is committed to providing service to all customers including those with disabilities in the following areas:

Sales

  • Provide carryout services to those customers with disabilities with parcels;
  • Provide shipping at the cost of the shipping with no extra handling charges applied.

Use of service dogs and support persons

Stanley’s welcomes customers and guests with disabilities who are accompanied by a service animal within the areas of the premises that are open to the public or private guests of couples and corporate events. Staff is expected to help in any way possible.

We welcome guests with disabilities and their accompanying support person. At no time will a person with a disability who is accompanied by a support person be prevented from having access to his or her support person.

Notice of temporary disruption

Stanley’s will provide customers with notice in the event of a planned or unexpected disruption in the facilities or services usually used by people with disabilities. This will include the reason, timeline and any alternative facilities or services, if available. This notice will be placed at public entrances and service counters on Stanley’s Olde Maple Lane Farm premises.

Training for employees

Stanley’s Olde Maple Lane Farm will include training of all employees involved in dealing with the public, during training sessions held throughout the year. This will include our parking lot staff, serving staff, supervisors and managers.

Training will include:

  • how to interact with people with disabilities who use an assistive device and/or require the assistance of a service animal or person;
  • how to interact with people with various types of disabilities;
  • how to help people with disabilities locate various aids available on the premises. Applicable staff will be trained on policies, practices and procedures that affect the way services are provided to people with disabilities. Staff will also be trained on an ongoing basis when changes are made to policies and procedures.

Feedback

The goal of Stanley’s Olde Maple Lane Farm is to meet or surpass expectations of customers and guests with disabilities. Comments on our services regarding how well we do are welcome. Feedback regarding the way we provide services and products to customers and guests with disabilities can be made by email, verbally or by telephone (613-821-2751). All feedback will be responded to within 5 business days.
